I've decided to move this topic of this thread: http://www.andreaplanet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=164 to it's own thread.

To re-cap, I am using the official trailer to the movie Serenity to make a movie poster (for the same movie). At this time, no official poster exists, so I am using images from the movie / TV show (called Firefly) and the official movie logo. I think it could be fun to have exhibitions of this nature, as it was my idea I am suggesting the first task but of course the next one will be someone elses' pick. I am interested to see what those of you who have been using AndreaMosaic longer than I have can do (especially you, Andrea ;) ).

So, if you need the video you may click here: http://www.jazzlad.com/mosaic/serenity/ ... viD%5d.avi but please be kind to my bandwidth - if you have bittorrent you can grab it there (or the original quicktime from the official site). A simple Google image search of firefly and or serenity will turn up a wealth of resources as well.

I am not opposed to multiple exhibitions at the same time, if you love the idea but hate the specific project please post what you feel would be a better project.

(Throwing down the gauntlet) Let the games begin!

BTW: I recommend zoomify (not to worry, it is free - http://www.zoomify.com) so that we can see the detail of the projects convienently online. I have a sample 'zoomified' image here: http://www.tpd.tno.nl/Pics/DII/gigazoom/Delft2.htm obviously it is not mine, but an excellent extreme example.

Submission #1

http://www.jazzlad.com/mosaic/Serenity_Mosaic_2/

This is actually the second mosaic I have done from the video; the first I have uploaded. I may have spare server space / bandwidth if anyone doesn't think they can participate for that reason . . . Let me know. For perspective, this image is taking about 25MB of space.

The interesting thing about video seems to be that in any given second you can have all the ~30 frames look more or less the same or you can have ~30 different frames. So, do you set it to capture all frames and delete the dupes (when using a short video, like a trailer)? Note: I have been using Virtualdub to grab the frames so far, over the weekend I plan to experiment with grabbing the frames with AndreaMosaic

Helpful opinions always welcome,

JazzLad
