If you want to create your own mosaic then download my completely free program AndreaMosaic.
Note that you need an Image collection and more images you have a better result you will archive.

I suggest you to follow the user manual (help button in the program). What is your problem. Open a new thread on the forum.

hi, I really like your program, and I only have one question. What are the different Andrea Mosiacs for? When I downloaded it, I got
AndreaMosaic
AndreaMosaic Cinescope
AndreaMosaic Portrait
AndreaMosaic Square
AndreaMosaicNTSC

When I open them, they all look the same. Is there any difference?

Yes the aspect ratio of the tiles is different. The square version make tiles with same width and height, the cinescope versione make tiles in 16:9 format, the NTSC in 14:9 (if im not wrong). and so on.

check the about box of the program!

A friend of mine told me about the site. =P

The pieces of arts are simple yet elegant. Good job.

Dear Andrea,

Thank you for being a sharing person. I am deep into the photos and have been for over 50 years.

The question I have is what is a good size JPG to use? The camera use is a Sony a700. I shoot at its full 12mega pixel setting, 2560 X 1920 pixels. It is easy to reduce the quality, and as you know very hard to increase quality once taken.. The mosaics that I wish to product will be 72” X 36”. I will be using 2,000 to 5,000 tiles.

Yes if the first trails workout well, I will be upgrading to the profession version, as I believe in sharing the fruits of labor with anyone who shares the push of the plow.

Best Regards
Big Jake

Hello Big Jake,

Shoot the photos at the best resolution because you may use them in other ways too. For the mosaic the required quality depends on the final printing size of each tile. At 72x36" and 2000 tiles, each tile will be around 1"x1", so you need each to be around 300x300 pixels (printing at 300 PPI). You can use some free tools like Fast Stone Image Viewer to convert in one batch step all your images to a lower resolution, like 500x500 pixels. The advantage is that this will speedup the mosaic creation.

Dear Andrea,

Thank you for the quick reply. That is good information, I will try to get a batch converted today. I normally use Photo Shop but Mr. Bill's Office Picture Manager is fast for the dropping pixels in batches also. I was thinking of 640X480 to keep the aspect ratio clean, but maybe as very small size it is not important.

Maybe I am not seeing the whole picture, as pixels are square so needs be the new "photo-pixels" :?:

I think I will try a batch of square and rectangular pixels :)

Best Regards
Big Jake

To speedup even more the mosaic process specify inside AndreaMosaic the Tile size in pixels. So AndreaMosaic doesn't need to resize each image. If all tiles are 640 pixels then specify for example "TileSize: 640 pixels"
