I have a question about updating my photo collections. I was wondering if you could walk me through the process.

When I take new pictures, I edit them, and then put them in their respective folders. When I try to update the collection it seems like all of the other pictures get mixed in and I always end up with one giant collection. How do I update my folders and keep my pictures seperate?

Phil

If the collection-labelling file specifies a certain folder it will include all subfolders in that folder, too.

I was just saying that if you have your collection file specifying one folder it will include all pictures in any subfolders that that folder has. If you have all your collection folders as subfolders in that folder, then it'll treat the whole thing as one giant collection.

When you said "the collection" it sounded like you were saying you only had one collection file for all of them. You need a separate collection file for each folder full of pictures.

I have a couple years' experience with this program and I'm just trying to help you out.

Hey, I read my last post, and it sounded a bit snotty. I didn't mean for it to be like that. I appreciate the attention, I will work on some of this on the weekend and see if I can get anywhere. Thanks for you time.

No problem, and good luck. Look forward to seeing the mosaics if you create and upload any.

I think my problem was not loading in a collection and then updating it. I think I was getting screwed up by the sample collection being mixed into my other collections. Thanks for you help!

I will definitely upload some when I get the hang of this.

Cool. I've found that as long as you have a good versatile collection then it's easy to create pretty mosaics. The more pictures the better, in general. I never used the sample collection since I had my own. I got most of the pics I use from Flickr, Catster and Dogster ^_^
