i have tried several times but all of them cant be recognized by windows because they are in .amc formats. what did I do wrong? help!

Please follow the tutorial. In short, press button FIND TILES, then CREATE COLLECTION, then in the next screen select a directory containing your tiles, write a any name for your filename (for example MY TILES) then press button SAVE. The programm will analyze all images there. Then you can go to the main screen and create the mosaic.

But another easy solution is try to download the latest beta version, it has a much easier user interface!
