I just came across Tping - it is awesome and a much needed improvement to the regular ping command. I have been testing it on various platforms, and have come across an issue on Windows Server 2008 R2. If I run it from a non-administrative command prompt, I receive the following error:

Windows Socket Open Failed: 10013

Under an administrative command prompt it runs fine. Any idea what may be causing this? Initially I thought it was a firewall issue (prior to running under an administrative command prompt) but that was not the case.

Hello Benjamin,

If I'm not wrong it's since Windows Server 2003 that we need Admininistrator privileges to send ICMP packets (ping). That's why we have that issue.
