Hi,

I'm tiling (carpet tiles) a floor using 12 plain colours. I would like to see what it it will look like, can I use AndreaMosaic to generate random patterns using all 12 colours equally (or not)?

Cheers

Griddle

Hi Griddle,

In the actual version this feature is missing. But there is a workaround:
- Use a plain white image for the Original/Main Image of the mosaic. Or use a random image that you have on your computer. AndreaMosaic will try to reproduce it.
- Set parameter Duplicate Spacing to 3 (or try also value 4, higher values will create black tiles/holes because you have only 12 tiles in the collection/library)
- Set parameter Use same tile up to: X where the value X = Tile Count / 12. For example if your mosaic has about 1200 tiles then set Use same tile up to: 100. You may use a value that is somewhat higher, for example 110 else you risk to get black tiles/holes.
- Set Color Change to 0%
- Choose a pattern that you like

Hello Andrea,

Thanks,

That works quite well.

I played with different background images from solid white through to black and various images. The problem is that I'm looking for an equal distribution of each tile and I can't seem to crack it - the brightness of the background image influences the distribution range of colours. The lighter the background image the lighter the overall distribution and the darker the background the darker the distribution.

Is there a tweak that I'm missing which will give me an equal random distribution of tiles.

Many thanks

Griddle

Yes, use the duplicate spacing and tile duplication count.
If you have 1200 tiles in the mosaic, 12 tiles in the collection, and you set a maximum duplication count of 110 then each of your 12 tiles can be used at most 110 times, for a total count of 1320 tiles, that is slightly more than the 1200 tiles of the mosaic.
