Hello to everyone. I want to ask every Photomosaic lover, what size of pictures he prefer to have on this site. Wallpaper size's for your desktop PC or bigger images for printing purpose. :)

Very good site!, some great pictures! I would like to place a vote for larger wallpapers. Prefer- 1600>1200, they make a better image when made of 2000 photos!! -Cheers

Actually, I was wondering how big typically do I have to make it (pixel-wise) in order to make a 12" x 8" printout, or poster size printout of it.

I'm thinking of making a picture for my friend, as their wedding presents.

Now, I need lots and lots of cute pictures though. :(
The only one that I found are natures, and cats.

For a high quality print a "pixel resolution" of 300 DPI is more than enough. So it means 12"x300 width and 8x300 height. So 3600x2400 pixels.

On the printer settings use a high resolution, like 720 DPI or 1440 DPI.

P.S.: if you have a video you can extract many images from there. even from movies. :)

I was thinking of buying a 12x18 prints at some pictures developing store (eg. http://photo.futureshop.ca/en/customers ... celist.asp)

So, I guess I need 12x300 x 18x300 = 3600x5400 as resolution then.
Going to be a huge picture.....

Yes if you want quality then you need this resolution. I suggest to save in JPG format so the resulting file is not so big.

It depend really much on the quality of the printer and on the tecnology of the printing process. Even if they claim to use a 720 DPI for example, in fact the quality is lower. So, look for a high quality service.
